Give yourself the peace of mind that comes with having health insurance this school year. College is challenging enough. Obtaining health insurance may be more straightforward and less expensive than you believe.

As a college student, you have various options that qualify as “qualified health coverage”. It’s not challenging to locate health insurance that fits your life and your budget, with a variety of plan kinds and pricing to pick from.

College students’ health insurance options

  • Insurance coverage provided by your parents: You may be eligible to remain on your parents’ health insurance plan until you reach the age of 26.
  • Student health plans: It might be a simple and inexpensive method to obtain basic insurance coverage if your school offers one.
  • Marketplace health plans: You can enroll in a Marketplace health insurance plan that offers essential health coverage and extra benefits beginning November 1, 2021. If you’re under the age of 30, you can get a catastrophic health plan to protect yourself from the worst-case situation, such as becoming very ill or wounded.
  • Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP): You’ll determine if you qualify for Medicaid or CHIP when you apply for coverage through the Marketplace. If you are eligible, you can start receiving coverage at any time of the year.
