Assuming you purchased health insurance through Marketplace in 2021, you’ll need to decide whether to keep your current plan (if it’s still available) or switch to a different plan in 2022. To get started, look over the 5 Steps to Staying Covered.

Enroll in a health plan for 2022 as the fifth step to staying insured.

Here are some things to keep in mind as you prepare to enroll:

  • To be eligible for health coverage beginning January 1, 2022, you must enroll by December 15, 2021.
  • After December 15, 2021, you can alter your 2022 plans at any time during Open Enrollment, which runs until February 15, 2022.
  • Your coverage will not begin on January 1 if you make changes and enroll in a new health plan after December 15, 2021. Check your health plan’s notification to see when your coverage will begin.
  • Confirm your enrollment with your plan and make sure you pay your premium.

Even if you wish to stay in the same plan, complete all five steps to enroll in a health plan. This is crucial if you want to get the coverage you desire and save the most money possible. Take action by December 15, 2021, to ensure that you have the correct coverage in place for your needs on January 1, 2022.
